First Certificate in English (FCE) Preparation course – Prague
Improve your confidence in English with an FCE preparation course
The great thing about the FCE is that it’s not a traditional test which is separate from achieving your overall learning goals. In fact doing the FCE will help you improve your communication skills and longer-term learning goals.
How? After taking the FCE you should expect to improve in the following areas:
- to speak more fluently and with greater control
- to use a wider variety of grammatical structures
- to improve at writing (eg reports, emails, stories)
- to better understand different reading and listening texts (eg radio broadcasts, newspaper articles)
- to speak and write with a richer variety of vocabulary (eg phrasal verbs, natural phrases which we use in conversation)
- to give and justify your opinions, and agree or disagree with others
FCE books + materials
You will have access to the very latest materials available from the very best publishers. These include:

FCE Buster (ELI Publishing)
Total FCE (Black Cat Publishing)
New Fast Class (Oxford University Press)
First Certificate Expert (Longman)

Access to FCE (Heinle Cengage Learning)
First Certificate Skills: Use of English (Oxford University Press)

I also make my own in-house materials and worksheets.
To have a well-balanced programme, of course I will also use other materials to suit your own learning requirements, such as:
- Business English books and materials
- Photocopiable grammar + vocabulary games
- Puzzles from other sources (eg Natural English puzzle book)
“Which book will I use?”
Usually I recommend one or two books for FCE students. We will choose the book based on your goals and interests, and which seems most motivating for you. For example, FCE Fast Class is good for short courses. FCE Expert looks more serious, whereas some of the other books are more fun. Some have more business themes and topics, whereas others might be better for university students or teenagers.
How much will it cost?
